The short answer

For a first visit, take a day tour: the pickup comes to your door, the guide leads the walk at Setti Fatma, and the stops, an argan cooperative and a Berber house, come with it. Hire a private car if you want to set the pace for a family or a small group. Take a driver without a guide only if you do not need one for the walk, or have asked who leads it.

The road and the distances

The road leaves Marrakech to the south-east across the plain and reaches the Ourika river at Tnine Ourika. From there it follows the river upstream, past villages and riverside restaurants, until it stops at Setti Fatma. It is a single road there and back: there is no loop and no way on by car.
